What is SAS Punjab examination ?

      PSAS stands out for Punjab Subordinate Accounts Services.Generally, this exam is conducted by the Finance department twice a year.                                 

Who can appear in SAS Punjab examination ?

    Only regular employees various departments of Punjab government or Boards/Corporations which are under the administrative control of the Punjab government can apply for this exam. 

>  Only regular government employees of Group A, Group B and Group C can take this exam.

>   An employee must have a graduation degree from a recognized university.

>   An employee must have 3 years of regular (probation period countable) government service.

How to apply for SAS Punjab examination?

    Any Government employee who wants to appear in this exam shall have to deposit examination fee rupees 2000/- in state Treasury under the head “0070 Other Administrative Service 60-Other Service 800-Other receipts” Departmental Examination Fee Punjab State SAS Examination and however this exam fee may vary in the future.

 How to many papers are there in SAS Punjab examination ?

     The exam of Subordinate Accounts Services have mainly two parts that are Part-I and Part-II. To appear in Part-II one should have to qualify Part-I first, which means you cannot directly appear in Part-II. Every part that is Part-I and Part-II consists of 4 papers and every single paper is of 150 marks.

      A government employee can appear in this exam number of times but the condition is that he would have to score 20% marks in each attempt to qualify for another attempt.

      If any candidate scores 60% marks in any paper that is 90 marks out of 150 then an exemption will be given to him from that paper means he doesn't need to pass that paper again.     

      Some papers of the SAS exam consist of practical questions to the extent of 75% out of 100%. For example, paper-3 of Punjab Civil Service Rules (with books) consists of 70 to 80% practical part. Another thing that you should be known is examination days are treated as duty period means you have no need to take any kind of leave to appear in the examination.

Details of Papers in Part 1 of Punjab Subordinate Accounts Services(SAS) examination

      Part-1 of SAS Exam comprises of four papers of 150 marks each as mentioned hereunder:-

Paper-1         English(75 Marks)/ Punjabi(75 Marks) Conducted on the same day in

                       morning-evening session.

Promotions after passing the SAS Punjab examination:

      After successfully passing the exam of Subordinate Accounts Services the employee concerned is promoted to the post of Section Officer(Gazetted post) in the pay scale of 10300-34800+5000 Grade pay.

> After 5 years of service as Section officer promoted as Accounts Officer or Assistant Controller(Finance & Accounts).

>  After 3 years of service as Accounts Officer promoted as Deputy Controller(Finance & Accounts).

>  After 2 years of service as Deputy Controller promoted as Joint Controller( Finance &  Accounts).
